Design Engineer
Job Description
- Coordinate internally with engineers/drafters and the broader design team/consultants in the pursuit of successful projects
- Attend meetings with Clients and design team members and represent as the point of contact
- Responsible for performing specific tasks as a part of a broader design effort
- Assist in the design of buildings varying in size, uses, and complexity
- Work under the guidance of senior team members
- Prepare construction drawings and the development of structural systems with a variety of materials
- Prepare calculations to justify structural designs
- Perform construction administration tasks, coordinate with construction professionals, perform site visits, review shop drawings, and answer RFI’s
- Perform feasibility studies and conditions assessments
- Establish project fees and track costs to maintain budgets and profitability
- Track project schedules to meet design team commitments and exceed Client expectations
- Review and provide quality assurance and control of deliverables
- Draft proposals and review contracts
Minimum Qualifications
- 0-2 years of work experience in building structural engineering
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis/specialization in Structural Engineering
- F.E. Certification (Preferred)
- Relevant coursework in materiality: steel, concrete
- Excellent communication and writing skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

- Relevant experience in project use types: healthcare, commercial, retail, industrial, civic, seismic retrofit, and/or residential
- Relevant experience in materiality: steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and/or metal studs (in seismically active areas)
- Competency in structural engineering design software: ETABS, RISA 3D, SAFE
- Familiarity with codes and standards applicable to the design and construction of major building projects located in California
- Excellent communication and writing skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
